In late July 2016, I had the extraordinary opportunity to observe and photograph the coming together of two grizzly bears in Banff. Grizzly bear 142, a six year old female, started to pursue grizzly bear 126, a ten year old male, and they engaged in a dancing/wrestling match with each other for about 30 minutes. Despite the bared teeth seen in some of these photos, there was no sign of aggression, just pure engagement and playful energy. Outside of mating season, it is unusual to see unrelated grizzlies bears interact in such a way. This is one of the most remarkable wildlife encounters I have ever had. Note: I removed the tags in photoshop in some of these photos.
